nero 7 registry cleanup...

Can anyone point me to a registry clean up utility, (if one exists at Nero),
that will clean up the seemingly myriad registry entries left behind in my
registry, - after installing Nero 7 30 day free trial / trying it for a few
days / and then "uninstalling" it and reinstalling my "free" Nero 6 that
came bundled with a DVD rewriter ?

Why is it that almost all software houses supply an "uninstall" that only
does a fraction of the job required to COMPLETELY uninstall their program
??

I should have made the effort to Syamntec "ghost" my drive before installing
the trial, or at least created a XP "system state" backup so that I could
dop my system and registry back to how it was before installing Nero 7 trial
but, there you go !!!!

I thought a System Restore got rid of all new registry entries, that is why
Mycrosoft recomend creating a restore point before installing new software.

Hello Richard

I would just leave it alone. The lines remaining in the Registry from the removal of Nero is harmless at this point. Using a Registry cleaner can cause more of a headache than needed. If you do not know the Registry then you have no business using a Reg cleaner that can possibly cause more harm than good.

I've read so much differing stuff across the past few months about what
restore points do, and don't do, -
I haven't a clue as what actually happens !! ..beyond "...critical system
files and other changes are restored..." !

....I understood that the registry is only fully restored to a previous
version, if one uses the Microsoft backup program "system state" feature,
and that that's about the only thing of use in the MS backup program. Also
MS backup is installed for use in the retail version of XP Home but, you
have to dig it out and install it oneself in OEM versions.

I played with MS Backup system state for a while, a while ago but, abandoned
it for Ghost.

....I think Ghosting is best - one is able to restore the lot !

Thanx Haggis

....I had a look at the link you gave me but, it seems to be "clean-ups" for
version of Nero 6 , it was Nero 7 Demo, I was looking to clean up after.
I'll just wade through the registry manually one after noon when I have
nothing better to do ! :)

best regards, Richard
