Are you on DSL High speed internet ?

If so ...make sure you follow your ISP instructions by plugging dsl phone
filters in to every phone jack at your place of residence. The phone jack
your computer is plugged in to might only need need a splitter. Incase you
would like to have a phone handy. Look at your ISP documentation for step by
step instuctions.

If your on internet through your tv cable provider, then dont worry about
your phone and call the phone company later to rectify the phone error.

If it's a dlink router the manual should tell you how to access the router.
Your router might have something like 5 ports. Plug your ethernet cable from
your computers ethernet card to say port 1 on the router or port of your
choice.

Power on router and computer. To configure the internal settings / firmware
of the router, you connect to the router by launching your web browser. The
address you type in the browser is depending what's the default IP of the
router. Should say in the documentation that came with the dlink router.

Once you have found the routers ip. Open web browser and in the address bar
put in what ever your routers IP is ...
example
http://1.2.3.4

Your manual should also specify whats the default users name and password
most likely Admin for username or something like that.

Once your in the router configure all your settings even changing the
default user name and password.

Then you should be set and ready to cruise the internet at light speed ..or
fairly close to it.....

.....Thou Einstein said you could not travel faster then the speed of light..
Try explaining that to any ISP.

Thanks for your help.......................... not too familiar with the
tech part of it LOL............... don't even have the manual................
I am on DSL cable..............you're saying I need a phone filter ????????
BTW the router is not plugged in anymore .................... is there
anything I need to fix in the comp......... I am having probs running
it................ thanks again

Just having troubles running router?

DSL filters are nessecary on all phone outlets usually they ship with your
dsl modem.
It's been 2 years since I last had a DSL router. My ISP required filters on
every phone jack. If not it can caused a variety connection troubles. Not
unless it varies from isp to isp or the technology has changed since then.
Call your Internet Service Provider for more details.

Dlink router ..What happened to your manual ? Did you buy a used router ?

Are you running the router as USB or ethernet connected to your computer ?

If hooked with usb you usually need to install the driver cd that came with
router. Router connected by Ethernet ... no driver install required.

Need some specs on how you have connected everything and what was your
procedure in trying to connect to router?

One more question did you connect with your dsl connection to post your
message ?
