I just bought Dlink DI 604 with 4 ports and it work fine to have comp and
laptop both connected but I can't succeed to share the same printer. Am I
wrong to try that or what should I do. I've tried through the network wizard
but with no sucess. I have to admit that I have Zone alarm for firewall. May
be this is the problem.

JustAMailMan,

Have you shared the printer?

What machine is the printer local to if any?

You mention Zone Alarm. If you disable if it for a few mins & then try to
get to the printer, can you? If so, you will need to add you local IP range
to Zone Alarm as trusted, which will allow you to connect through

Example:

Add Range:

192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.10

The IP is determined by what you use to connect to the router. It will be
something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 etc.

You can find the default gateway:

Click START
Click RUN
Type 'cmd' (without quotes) & click OK

In the command window type:

ipconfig /all & press ENTER

Your IP & default gateway will be listed

Please note:

Note the [space] between the 'g' of 'config' & the '/' befofore 'all'

ipconfig[space]/all

Try the above & report back

strange I am sure I've send a reply and now it is not here at all
But let's try again
I have tried everything , share , no firewall, reset my network setup but it
only works when I connect directly to my laptop.
I just bought that router because I am living at a friend for a while and
wanted to have both of us connected at the same time on her internet
But I thought it would also provide for sharing her printer . I did share
her printer on her computer and my laptop with no result yet.
If you tell me that it should work I will keep trying more

To share a printer correctly (automatically over network)

you must:

1) Have both PCs part of the same Workgroup
2) Enable File and Printer sharing in Windows Firewall
3) Set up network IP address range as a trusted zone in Zone Alarm
4) Have 'Simple File sharing" service running for general "Guest" user
account to work
5) Create "simular" user account of "second" PC you which to have the
printer accessed by on sharing PC.
