[ROB] mapped network drive icon shows red 'x' but is connected

R

Robert Adams

I'm providing networking support for my church and
unfortunately, I'm not an expert at windows networking.
I'm running samba on a linux server and this particular PC
has 3 mapped drives to directories on the server.

public on 'moses'
<username> on 'moses'
acs on 'moses'

Public is the only one that doesn't show the red 'x'
indicating that it is disconnected. However, they all
work just fine. These are on her desktop and I can
refresh but the icons don't change.

I've searched the kb but find no answers. Can anyone
provide some suggestions? It's more of an annoyance than
anything else.

Thanks,
Robert

You could have your settings for the mapped drives to
disconnect until they are used. Again, the red 'X's are
an annoyance and you could try remapping the drives but
that sounds like the problem.
