Roaming Vs. Local profile

Chris

What's the main difference in the .usr and .pds extension?

I noticed that some of the networks I have seen (NT/2000)
almost all roaming profiles are .pds. Sometimes, the they
have a .usr as the roaming. Do you even have to have an
extension on the end in user manager and domains or Active
Dir or even the server for that matter to have the roamin
profile load?

Thanks!
Chris

Hi Cris,
.pds & .usr are the profiles which were used in NT 3.5 to NT 4. you can
get the information for this at this Link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;185588.
In case of Active directory the profiles are stored with extension
'.dat', where in you find 2 files 'system.dat' and 'NTuser.dat'.
you can also find more details on Win 2000 Activedirectory profiles in this
link.
