Try authorize the RIS server from the dhcp server admin gui, use fqdn
or ip address..

You arent running a multihomed ris server are you?

I'm experimenting with setting up a RIS server on an existing network. The existing network is running AD, DHCP and DNS on two W2k domain controllers. My test server is running the evaluation version of 2000 advanced server. I went through the setup and had no problems until it came time to authorize it in DHCP. The server shows up in the list of servers and I authorize it but it keeps saying that the DHCP service isn't running on the machine. I guess I'm confused because what I've seen on TechNet says you just need DHCP, AD and DNS on the network, not on the individual machine. Am I missing something?
