RIS boot disk errors

Keith

I am having trouble booting to the RIS server with a RIS
boot disk. The NIC is compatible and on the approved
Adapter list. It had been working all last week. RIS
works with laptops that have the PXE ROM boot but has
stopped with the older workstations that have to use the
RIS boot disk. The error I get is:

Node: xxxxxx(MAC Address)
DHCP..
TFTP
Error: No reply from a TFTP server.
Press a key to reboot system.

I guess it is not getting an IP address, but our DHCP is
working fine (because the PXE boots from newer laptops is
fine).

Any ideas??
thanks

I can sympathise with your problem. RIS can be a right
b****r. I *think* I am right by saying that if you see the
TFTP message, your machine has already received the IP
address. I would check to see if the BINL service is
running on your RIS server, if not, then trivial file
transfer cannot take place.

Good luck, and please post any success/failure message in
the group.

Regards
Paul
