I am having a problem with riprep on a Xindows XP SP1 machine. My base image
works great, all drivers install and work. But when I run riprep on the
machine after configuring applications and settings my ethernet card
disappears before riprep can copy the startrom.com, riprep.sif, ntldr and
other essental files. even if I restore the file from a different location
the image does not work. My RIS server is Win2k server.

What's the exact error? I had a similiar issue where it
would go most of the way through the process and then say
it couldn't find the location for startrom.com, etc...
The problem was that I didn't have a 'ristndrd.sif' file
in my cd-based image I386 directory. It was in the
templates directory, just not in the I386 directory.
(Took the MS engineer three days to figure it out)

The error is The network location cannot be reached . I tried your suggestion
but still did not work. I ended the riprep task and was able to find out that
my ethernet card was missing. Any other help would be helpful.

I am having the same issue now....did you ever get this resolved.....I am in
a crunch to deploy laptops, built my gold image and got this error. Any ideas
? What type of PC were you trying to upload/download the image for ?
