ripping mp3s

I have a few recorded mp3 cds (regular cd with about 200 songs in mp3
format). I want to put these songs on my computer but windows media player
won't let me and it does't work with my disk burning program either. I can
play the music from the cds fine in windows media player, but when I go to
"rip" no songs show up and it says "please insert a disc to take music from."
Can anyone tell me how to get the music saved onto my compuer? Thanks!

As they are MP3 files not audio CD format, then it is a data CD. You need
to copy the files over using explorer. WMP only "rips" audio.

OH, okay that makes sense, thanks! So now that the music is on my computer,
can it be burned on to a regular blank cd or do I need to change the format
first or anything?

They are now mp3 files. They are burned to CD in the same manner as any data
file if you wish to keep them in mp3 format. You do not need WMP for that.
Use the operating system. WMP will just transfer control to the operating
system if you tell it to burn data CDs.

If you want to burn audio CDs then use WMP. It will convert them to CDA
format.

Try CDex. It's a free CD ripper, then burn them to CDs as MP3s using
"CDBurnnerXP-Pro3" another FREE program.

Thanks for the reponse but I have sorted it out another way. I downloaded
windows media player 10 and then ripped my cds to Mp3. Then burned them onto
cd using Nero Express, the only problem I occured was tthat windows media was
not tetting me burn the tracks i wanted or the quantitiy i wanted. It kept
telling me that did not have enough disc space? strange? Do you have any idea
y this is?
