Right margin is getting cut off during printing

Hi,
I print a web page in IE 6.0 and the right margin is getting cut off.
It doesn't print on a second page, it just doesn't print at all.

Have tried:
1) File, Page Setup, Left and Right Margins set to 0.25. That helps
somewhat, but the real problem is still present.

I am aware that printing Landscape has been recommended. That is a
lame response, because it is *very* inconvenient.

In my opinion, it would be a welcome fix to have Internet Explorer
actually *print* the entire page which is sent to the printer. If it
doesn't fit, then print the right part on an *additional* page.

Is it really true that this *bug* still exists in IE 6.0?

A search on Google for IE right margin print yeilds 41,000 posts.
About 1/5 of them are on this problem.

Internet Explorer has *always* had this bug. Isn't it time this one
got fixed?

I am stunned in general at how lame the internet and IE is. Who would
stand for a Word Processor or spreadsheet that didn't print all of your
document? Yet, IE 6 doesn't.

Is this ever going to be fixed?

Thank you

Hi,
Workarounds...

If the page is primarily text, you could try a smaller text size- IE> View>
Text size.

If changing the text size doesn't work, try this freeware program from
http://www.visiontech.ltd.uk/software/

Internet Explorer Fitted-Width Printing

Have you ever printed a web page only to find that the right-hand edge is
missing? This is for you. First, this download page will install the
control. After installation, close the browser window and reopen a new one.
You should have a new printer icon with a small 'W' next to it on the
toolbar. Press this to bring up a print dialog which will then print the
page fitted to the width of your paper. Alternatively, hold down the Control
key while pressing the button and you will get a print preview instead.

Note: After downloading this ActiveX Object (into Downloaded Program Files)
you may have to go to IE> View> Toolbars> Customize to find and display the
icon.

Hope this helps,

Thank you.
I tried and tried to download this, but none of the links take me to
the download. One link goes to one page, then another link to another
page -- end result -- no link results in a download.

What can I do?

Thank you

Hi,
When you clicked on this link [Internet Explorer Fitted-Width Printing](
http://www.visiontech.ltd.uk/software/download/IEPrint.htm)
you should have been prompted to allow an ActiveX control to run This should
have placed the IEPrint ActiveX control in the [C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded
Program Files] folder.

Then, after downloading this ActiveX Object (into Downloaded Program Files)
you may have to go to IE> View> Toolbars> Customize to find and display the
icon on the IE toolbar. I found it confusing the first time. ;-)

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi,
I have tried even from my home and have the exact same problem. No
link seems to lead to a download.

What can I do?

Thanks

You didn't include your original post, so this is just a guess.

Outlook Express uses the same print engine as Internet Explorer.

For print size: IE>View>Text Size>Make adjustment.

For margins: IE>File>Page Setup.

You may be missing the point.
Click on
http://www.visiontech.ltd.uk/software/download/IEPrint.htm
If you have XP, the Information Bar may stop you installing the
ActiveX control but you should see an Information Bar message:
"The previous site might require the following ActiveX control
IEPrint.CAB from VisionTech Limited. Click here to install"

Click and then select "Install ActiveX Control"

This is because the page width is hard coded on the site. If reducing the
text size won't get the whole page printed, landscape is the ONLY other
solution.

Double Mega Ditto. This is really a major bug, and it is shameful how
long it has been around without a fix. Look, one non-Microsoft
programmer came up with an installable workaround to fix it, and M$
cant even get it fixed after 10 years of development! WUWT???

Bill G, go kick some butt and get this fixed ASAP or I'm gonna try
Netscape 7's print-to-fit feature!

Landscape may be the ONLY other solution in IE6, apart from downloading
the 3rd party control, which I havent yet tried, but there is
apparently another solution in Netscape 7's print-to-fit feature.

Anyway, webpages with hard coded formatting are another major
annoyance. I am amazed how many news sites out there dont allow text
resizing, it seems to be the vast majority. The webpage 'designer's'
fetish for micro-fonts and neglect of ergonomics is only getting worse
these days.
