(XP pro sp1) When I right Click in explorer (any file,
any folder) windows freezes (about 20 secs) then explorer
crashes.
Any Help is appreciated.
Generally that means a problem with one of the context menu handlers.
Those are the list items that pop up when you right click. Do you have
spysweeper installed? That has caused this problem. The right click
context menu for it can be disabled from within the program's own
settings. Otherwise check each of the entries in these registry keys.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
There is a tool to assist in this. Download ShellExView:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/shellexview.html
When run it will scan the registry for all shell extensions. Sort it by
type to show the context menu items. Then disable the non Microsoft
items one by one.
