Right click pc>properties>nothing showing

Using xp home and think my pc been infected by virus etc. The sympton is :-
my computer right click > properties and click it, nothing appears. Likewise
start>run>msconfig>it will show on the taskbar and I cannot move up etc.

Similarly for NIS, when you launch it, it will appear on the task bar.
I have scanned this hd as slave using AVG/Adaware/CA. Altjough they have
found something and deleted but the problems still remains.

Any suggestions as howbest I can resolve this problem......Thanks

For problem #1 (folder properties problem) :

Are you running Windows XP Professional, with IIS installed? If so, read here:

Also, see "W3ext Module" paragraph in this page:

Let your Firewall Program (Norton Internet Security in my case), to "Allow All" for inetinfo.exe and reboot.

An easy way to see if this is potentially your problem is to look for the Status of World Wide Web Publishing Services. If it says "Starting", then you have this problem. After allowing all for "C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe" in my Firewall program settings, and rebooting, not only did my Properties Window show up again, but the
system boots much more quickly.

Trying to work through the articles and if I may add, I realised that when I
right click it, there is actually something flying to the corner which I cant
see. (fyi the browser page is smaller than the monitor screen and when I try
to click the black area, nothing seems tohappen also)

Pressing Windows key and Break key will open the same box. If it flies
off the screen, right-click the Taskbar, click "Cascade windows". This
might move it back on-screen.. Could work with NIS window too.
