Right Click not working

I used to be able to Right Click on any picture in "my Pictures" to get a sub
menu (send to recipient,delete, etc) but something has changed. Now I get the
hour glass for 60 seconds, then everthing but the screensaver disappears,
then the icons on the desktop re-appear and the picture files are gone and
have to be re-opened...HELP!
