Right Click in Windows Explorer Extremely Slow

R

Rick Johnston

Hello,

Suddenly, right clicking on a file or folder in windows explorer has become
extremely slow. I watch an hourglass for up to 30 seconds before the popup
menu appears.

The only changes I made recently was to install the IIS Server and
Dreamweaver.

Don't know if this is related, but at the same time my MS Word 2002 is doing
a very long virus scan before opening any file on my local drive. Can I
disable or correct this?

Thanks in advance.

There is a serious new problem with Norton Antivirus (NAV) as of the
latest virus definition update... slow-response to right-clicking
files is one symptom... slow opening of MS Word and Excel (if NAV's
office Plugin is enabled) is another...

(The only thing slower is Sematnic's acknowledgement and fix.)

I have the same problem, but I don't have Norton
Antivirus. If I unplug the network cable, right click
works OK.
If you find an answer to this problem, let me know.

Using Norton AntiVirus?
