Symantec destroyed Veritas Backup Exec Desktop

I am looking for a, corporate, desktop backup application for 'X' number of WinXP notebooks.

Requirements:
Has its own built-in scheduler
Can backup to; hard disks, tape or DVDR or DVD/RW media
Pick and choose what files and/or folders to be backed up

Objective:
Purchase one disk/media and license
Purchase remainder licenses only

Suggestions ?

| Try virtual machine manager 2007

What is Virtual Machine Manager?
System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 (VMM) is a server application in the Microsoft
System Center family of products. VMM manages a virtualized data center that runs
Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, and it provides:

a.. Consolidation of underutilized physical servers

b.. Rapid provisioning of new virtual machines

c.. Wizard-based physical to virtual machine (P2V) conversions

d.. Wizard-based virtual-to-virtual machine (V2V) conversion of VMware virtual machines
=============

That's NOT a data file/folder backup solution.

Thanx anyway! :-(

Hi, David. You didn't mention how big a number "X" is, but my tech
buddy/sometime partner and I use Second Copy from www.centered.com ($29.95)
for most of our clients. It is scalable and works well in a small business
environment with a server and in a home environment. I don't know about
backup to tape because we don't use tape systems.

The problem with notebooks is that they are moveable and therefore the
target where the backup is being saved might not exist (like if you're
backing up to a second hard drive on the server or an external hard drive).
So I think I'd need more information about the situation you're trying to
handle. Of course, you can contact me directly if you want to talk about
this further. I've got some other ideas for you but would need to know more
about the situation.

Cheers,

Malke
