Retrieving Backed up files

My computer Tech line just recently directed me to do an entire destructive
format of my system to remove what appeared to be a virus problem. Ihave
done that and have reload the system and it seems clean now. I have my most
recent backed up disks of important files I needed to save and my previous
backed of disk from my old windows ME system I needed to save from when I
bought this new system (which has WinXP). The computer will not read any of
these disks/files. It acts as if the cds are all blank. I know when I need
to reload my windows ME files when I bought this system orignally, someone
gave me a tip of a drive to download which allowed these disks to be
readable/useable (make the files show up on them)

Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to retrieve the files off these
disks.

THanks!!!

Did you use a 3rd Party CD-Burning Software App? Sometimes these things
don't finalize the disks, so only PC's with the software that wrote the cd's
can read the cd's. Try re-installing your cd-burining app from the orig cd
and then try reading the CD's from Windows or the App.

IsoBuster, CD and DVD Data Recovery and Rescue tool (DVD Data ...
If their claim is true, that would be your fix.
