files backed up on floppy

Last year I backed up very important files on floppy, but then earlier this
year I had to have my computer reformatted because the motherboard went out.
Now I can not open up these files I saved to disk. Is there anything I can do
to get these files opened up?

Using a new floppy can you write a file or files to and then read/copy them
from the new floppy?

How did you backup these files, and what happens when you try to open them?
A modicum of information would be very helpful......

All I get when trying to open them is: A:\ is not accessible. No ID address
mark was found on the floppy disk.

Find a Win98 computer, read the files, transfer them to your XP box by other
means (network, email attachments, USB drive, smoke signal...)

XP + floppy disk = recipe for disaster.
