In Windows explorer create a folder for the local copy of the website -
say c:/myweb, but anywhere will do.

Open FrontPage 2000 and close any open web sites (File->Close site)

File->Open Web

In the Open Web dialogue either click on the web site, or type its URL
(in full, similar to http://www.example.com) in the Folder name box.
Including the http:// is important.

Click the Open button

Login using the same username and password as when publishing to the
site.

The remote site will open.

File->Publish Web

First, select Publish all pages, and tick Include subwebs (if you have
any)

Then Browse to the folder you created earlier, or you can use this
browse dialogue to create a folder - or use an existing folder if it is
empty.

Click Publish button

You may get a warning about pages that require a server or extensions to
work correctly - click Continue

The web will be copied.

Click Done when completed.

File->Open Web and browse to the folder to open the local copy.

thanks for that however when I put the web address into the folder box I get
a message telling me " the folder"http://www.theavonhotel.co.uk" isn't
accessible. The folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected
with a pasword.. I have tried it with several other web site addresses and
all have the same message .. FP does not seem to have a conection direct to
the web just my files.

The folder "http://Website" isn't accessible. The folder may be located on
an unavailable volume or protected with a password.

Alternatively, you may wish to download the FREE Jimco Open Web which
bypasses the possibly corrupted web folders: www.jimcosoftware.com
