Retrieve Unused Desktop Icons

Someone in the house ran the unused desktop function and it deleted a folder
that I kept all of our family photos in. In the Help & Support on our
Computer it says to retrieve them from the Unused Icons folder located on the
desktop - only that doesn't exist. I ran a search of my computer for
anything containing "unused" but nothing came up. Does anyone know where I
can find my folder?? Please!? Any help would be VERY VERY helpful as it
contained a lot of pictures that can not be replaced. My direct email is
(e-mail address removed). Thanks so much for your help!

Stop using the system. If it was deleted the chances of recovery decrease
as the system is used. Deleted data is not removed from the drive, just
it's space is marked as available so the more the system is used the greater
is the chance it will be overwritten.

The safest thing is to image the drive so you have a backup of it, then try
data recovery. Download some of these recovery utilities on another
computer, install the drive as a slave in that computer and run the recovery
utilities on the drive in question.

If these photos were so important why was there not a backup?

Have you done a search for the photos?
Search all files and folders for "*.jpg" and see what turns up, assuming
that your photos were JPEG format.

To recover the picture you can use Stellar Phoenix Deleted File
Recovery. It has a function that searches for deleted files on any
version of Windows including -Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP.
Download the demo from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/deleted-file-recovery.htm.
Scan your hard and search for deleted files and folder. If you can see
your files through then you can save your data by getting the full
version.

Best of Luck.
