Retrieve sub-directory from backup disk?

(Long background to explain what I want to do.)

I'm running Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, and Windows Mail.
Dialup connection. Everything works fine.

I have several years of email files, under a top-level
directory called Files, with several levels of
sub-directories below, containing in total maybe a few
thousand messages, each in a content related category.
Everything works fine. Each month I backup my mail file to
a DVD disk, and place it offsite.

I accidently deleted a sub-sub-directory containing perhaps
40 email messages on a particular topic.

Here is what I'd like to do. I'd like to retrieve that
sub-sub-directory from my backup DVD and re-introduce/insert
it into my active mail file, where it was before. How can I
do this?

I'm not a real computer expert, but I can follow simply
worded directions.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Simply drag the EML file(s) to the desired Windows Mail
folder.

When I try to open the backed up mail file I get about a
dozen files shown with names like: 7D9F1CE1-000021B1.eml
Each of those seems to be only 1 email message. How do I
get to a list of the other thousands?

Thanks.

Create the folder you deleted in Winmail and open that folder so that it
shows the empty message list. Then go to your backup and find the directory
of eml files that corresponds to that folder. Then drag that entire
directory off the CD to the Desktop. Then open that folder to show the eml
files and select them all. Then drag the selection overtop the empty
message list of the WinMail folder and release to mouse to drop the eml
files. They will then be incorporated into the WinMail folder. If you have
problems, then try one eml file until you get it working and then you can do
all of them, as long as they are only eml files.
