Retrieve Achived Deleted Files?

For my Deleted Files, I have autoarchived with Move Old Items to Default
Archive Folder. When I do Search all Files and Folders for .pst, two folders
come up, named Outlook and Archive. Both have same address:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Neither can be opened. I need to retrieve some archived files. How?

When you say neither can be opened, what happens when you try? Outlook.pst
probably is your current PST and doesn't need opening. The Archive.pst file
should be able to be opened with File>Open>Outlook Data File.

You're right in that I can see both files this way, but when I open them,
there is nothing there.

Do you have the option to empty your Deleted Items folder turned off? Are
the messages actually leaving the Deleted Items folder? Have you compared
the modified date of the messages you thnk should archive with the archive
dat you've set?

(1) When I look at my Deleted Items, they are indeed not there prior to 60
days, consistent with the way I've set auto archive.
2) This is what I've set: Deleted Items/Properties/Auto Archive/Archive
this folder using these settings/Clean out items older than 2 mos/Move old
items to default archive folder
Where the heck are archived deleteds?

Did you look in the Folder List navigation pane to see what folders the archive .pst contains?

I found them! Thank you. Now that I see the archived files, I am wondering
something. Does archiving really save computer space or is it no different
than a larger deleted file, only in two different locations?

No one ever said that archiving saved computer space. What it does is keep the old information you rarely use in a separate file, which you can close so you don't even see it in Outlook. Less clutter.

And for the older PST format, keeps your PST from becoming unusable.
