Retreving Emails

I am wondering now to setup the outlook express in Windows XP on a friends
computer. There seems to be a validation error, however i suspect that it
may be the email server address. Telstra gave them mail.bigpond.com, as far
as I am aware it should be mail.bigpond.net for broadband ADSL

I am able to access the email from the website, but not the window outlook
express, any ideas on what is going on. I am using my own computer, in case
anyone points out that the email program I am using is diffrent from the
problem stated until we get this resolved.

You would do well to ask this in:

windows.public.outlookexpress.general

A phone call to the provider is really the best solution. Sometimes in
a 'users' section of their web site they may have documented setup
directions. Besides the name of the server to connect to, you need to
know if they want you to log in or not.

When I set up my account in OE, initially I did not see the box to check
that says 'my server requires authentication'. But after setting it up
and then going back into tools->account settings and properties, on the
server tab at the bottom it the check box. I had go to the settings
button and check the 'log on' and fill in the boxes. Seems my
Verizon needs a lot of info. I did none of this for my cable company
except account name.
