Retaining Windows Video Settings

Everytime I reboot the video resolution resets to the original 800 x 600.
Shutdown appears to be normal. It just appears that whatever file contains
the previous settings disappears or is not recognized. Is there anything
short of a Windows reinstall that can fix this?

make 100% sure you have the correct video drivers. Try uninstalling
video device from device manager and rebooting (installs new drivers
on startup). Check you motherboard manufacturers site for the correct
drivers as well.
