full screen compatibility

i previously installed an emulator to run an old DOS program.. after i
was finished with it, i uninstalled it from my drive. i have a wide
screen monitor, and current resolution is 1440 x 900.

now, when i run full screen programs, that run in for example 800 x
600 mode-it does bot stretch to full screen. now when a program that
is supposed to be full screen launches, it only takes up a portion of
the screen-and the "desktop surface" is reduced to a window that is
800x600 large.

how can i reset the value so that full screen applications actually
stretch to true full screen? any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

It may have set your default MS Dos Prompt to the 640x480 mode.

Create a shortcut to "Command.com", Rightclick the icon, Properties,
Compatibility tab. uncheck box for 640x480

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. I have uninstalled the app, the emulator, and
also checked the the compatibility which was already unchecked for
640x480. I am still experiencing problems running full screen
applications however.

As I mentioned, full screen application do not "stretch" the full
monitor size; instead, the full screen application shrinks the useable/
visible desktop area to a window (usually 800x600 or 640x480 depending
on the application settings) and is surrounded by a un-usable black
border.

When I exit the full screen application, the desktop area returns and
stretches to full screen again.

This "shrinking" of the desktop area has happened with full screen
apps such as video, games in full screen mode, and my screensaver
which was a 3rd party program.

Any other suggestions? Thank you again,

SLS

With a CRT monitor, adjust the monitor width and height to fill the
screen for each resolution. With a LCD monitor, you do the same, or if
available, press the "Auto Adjust" button. The monitor should remember
the resize for each resolution.
