Resuming from hibernation

After hibernating my laptop (Win XP SP2) and resuming it programs stop
responding and once one program stops responding, the rest do aswell. Trying
to close them in task manager doesn't work and i am forced to turn off the
computer by pressing and holding the power button. New programs can be
started but these also freeze after a few minutes. After starting the laptop
again everything works perfectly. This problem only affects hibernate and not
standby which works ok.

Any Ideas?

Badly written drivers are usually at fault for this. Upon dehibernation they
either attempt to occupy taken memmory blocks, or occupy reserved ones, which
causes a system halt. Drivers not native to XP are am especially high risc
group.
