Restoring vista backup files to xp

I recently upgraded to vista. I have backed up my files using vista. I have
subsequently gone back to XP. I have the vista backup files on removable
media and wish to view them and or copy them to folders on an XP system.
Vista is no longer available. Can someone tell me how to do this?

If you used Vista backup I would suspect that you needed Vista to recover
them.
But you might get a more informed response from a Vista group
