Restoring partition with true image

I am sorry if this is a second post but the first one doesn't seem to be
here.
I know this is not an acronis site, but I need help.
Something my son did messed up our computer so that a restore appears in
order. Microsoft's spyware program, ad aware, and spy bot do not show any
spyware. Norton scan did not show a problem. I have a True Image backup but
don't know how to use it. The help file is not very clear.
Do I just start in safe mode and if so how do I do that?
If I use the Startup Recovery Manager by pressing F11, will it let me find
the file that I want to use for backup or do I have to use the Bootable CD?
If I use the bootable CD will it let me find the file? Will the mouse be
active to use for selection?
Any hints will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I see that they have user forums. You should post there, after reading
the manual and any FAQ's about the product.
