Restoring Old Files

I backed up some files on a second hard drive and then formatted and
reinstalled windows xp on the original drive. When I restore the files that i
backed up i cannot open them. I get a message "documents not accessible
Access denied." I suspect that it is because the old files where I was a
password protected user. I have created myself as the same user with the same
password but still cannot gain access to the 97 Gig of backed up files. I am
in some serious trouble here.

Thanks Bert simple file sharing was enabled in view of folder options.
Unccheking that allowed me to take ownership of the files.
