Restoring deleted files.

We run Windows XP home edition and deleted a user account
by mistake without saving several word files which
contained daughter's A level coursework. Files still
showing on MS works task launcher but cannot be opened.
They are not in recycle bin. Any advice please to restore
or gain access to the files?
 
Try re-installing the user account....using the same log in name and
password that the account had originally.

I'd recommend NOT doing this. Re-creating the account will cause disk
activity, and if the files really were deleted, this activity could
overwrite the files the OP wants to recover.

Chris Lanier's advice is more on target.
