Using sp home and by mistake deleted some files/pictures etc, can I do a
System Restore (to an earlier date) to recover these deleted items (they are
also deleted from the recycle bin). TIA

Sorry, but if this is user data, System Restore will not help you. You
will need to STOP using that drive and use data recovery software.

Ideally, and really to have any hope of this workin, you will remove the
drive and attach it to another system that has the recovery software and
space to recover the files. Using that drive to run a system redcuces the
chance of recovering anything.

Check in the recycle bin? System restore is not a backup utility. It saves
a copy of the registry and certain system files but it does not save data
files. You should have some backup solution in place and always have a full
and complete backup.

To recover the deleted files, first stop using the computer. Deleted files
are not removed from the drive, just there space marked available so the
more you use the computer the greater is the chance that space is over
written and the less chance there is for recovery. Here are some utilities
to recover deleted files.
