restoring deleted files

I understand that it is possible to interrogate a hard disk to see files
that have been deleted - and cleared form the deleted box - in other words
they remain 'hidden' after deletion.

Although I understand you cant do it at home where can I find a specialist
company to do this? Location N London UK

This can be done (but it's best to recover onto another hard disk) using
GetDataBack from -

www.runtime.org/

It costs just under £50 from my recollection.

A specialist could cost you an arm and a leg - and then some!

Also, to successfully be able to recover most deleted files, you need to not
have used the hard drive since your complete clear out of the recycle bin.
The long you wait to try to recover the file(s), the more chances that you
will not be able to. XP (just like the old DOS) does not truely erase the
files from the hard drive. It just remove the filename and pointer. Then,
there is a possibility that the file will be overwritten with another file
in the future.
