Restoring backups

I did a windows 2000 pro backup the loaded xp. The back
up will not restore on xp, How can I get my backup
restored on xp?
 
I may be all wet here but I think there may be a
compatability problem (FAT 32 - NTFS). Are you upgrading
or running two OS's? If it is an upgrade XP goes to NTFS
by default but you can select partition to FAT 32 if you
want. Maybe that would allow your backup to work then
convert to NTFS at command prompt. But if XP is only
operating system it may not rcognize 2000 backup then only
option it seems would be go back to 2000 run backup then
upgrade. Hang in there I'm sure a second opinion is on its
way.
