Restoring backed-up PST file

I've been using PFBACKUP.EXE to keep my Outlook PST file backed up, and
today had a need to restore it. The procedure is not clear, however, and I
did get the backup moved to the proper folder to accomplish what I wanted by
simple cut and paste, but there must be a better way. What is the proper
way to restore one of these backup PST files, by importing it? What is the
"Open Backup" option and how does it work? A Google search didn't find a
clear answer.

Open Backup does what it says, if you have multiple backups you select
req.one and open.
The backup is then available, within OL, just like any other data file.
BTW the data file, pst, can be located on any hd/folder on yr sys, it does
not have to be at a specific location.

I know, but my question is what is the standard method for restoring a
backup? IOW, I want to restore the backup as my permanent PST file in c:\My
Documents and Settings\....

I did a copy and paste which worked, but I assume there is a more
conventional approach.

The Backup is merely a copy of a pst, by default named Outook Backup.pst Its
not quite the same as a backup application, which often compresses files, so
the restore is not the same either.
You can therefore either Open the backup, which will retain its name, or
move/copy it to any location rename to whatever and open the resulting pst
in OL.
Do not overwrite any existing pst, in OL close any pst you dont want, delete
it if you wish.
