Here is the problem. I needed to run HP Restore Plus and Operating System
CDs. I am at the stage of re- installing the OS . Cannot find my Product ID
numbers. What can I do ?? Need this comp[uter back in operation. I would
appreciate an Email answer . (e-mail address removed)

Contact HP.

Usuaully the product key is not needed with restoration processes - but
being an HP and likely an OEM - the product key should be on a sticker on
the machine.

Would appreciate keeping all responses in the newsgroups for everyone's
benefit.

known better. Would that number be on the CPU? Thanks for your help

Contact HP.

Usuaully the product key is not needed with restoration processes - but
being an HP and likely an OEM - the product key should be on a sticker on
the machine.

If by cpu you mean the computer tower, yes. If you purchased the computer
with the OS preinstalled then look for a label on the side. It will have
the product key. On a laptop it is usually on the bottom.

Confused Ragnald,
If that's an HP laptop, then turn it upside down. On the bottom, on a small
tag, in still smaller print is the number you are seeking.

The CPU is an electronic chip on the motherboard, inside the case. The
Windows Product Key is certainly not on it.

However, as Shenan said, quoted below, "the product key should be on a
sticker on
the machine." That's the case, not the CPU.
