Moving/saving restore points?

Hi, I have an HP comp. with XP sp2 that I have had to use the HP system
recovery disk a couple of times. When it is done with the recovery, and the
sytem is finally started again, all the previous restore points have been
wiped. Reinstalling all the games my children have on the computer is a
serious pain! Is there a way to create a restore point, and save it elsewhere
to be able to move it back if/when a recovery is done again? Would a registry
backup help this situation at all? Any help / comments are appreciated....

The HP Recovery has nothing to do with Windows System Restore. When you
run the HP Recovery, you are returning your computer to factory
condition.

You can get an imaging program like Acronis TrueImage, Norton Ghost, or
BootIT NG and make an image once you've got your machine set up just
the way you want. The image is naturally stored somewhere other than on
your main hard drive.
