restore WIN XP

Last week, WIN XP was corrupted; it worked only with partial functionality;
so I reinstalled XP. Before re-installing I backed up all my programs
(including MS Outlook) to an external HD; I put data (that was sitting in
separate files on my C: drive onto a separate external flash drive.

I reinstalled XP & drivers, service packs, et al. Now, machine runs better.
I re-installed MS OFFICE (w/ Outlook) - everything works. ... I need my old
emails - when I try to access the "backed-up" old Outlook with those old
emails on the external HD, there is NO MS Office or Outlook at all on that
itemized back up list.

Any thoughts on how to get my "old emails" that shoulda' been backed up with
the other programs?

Outlook normally stores things in a PST file (file with the extension PST
that is - *.pst)

Did you copy that?

Older Outlook versions stored them in pst files. New versions I am not
sure.

Thanks for the comments ... Last week, when I backed up, I used XP backup
utility & selected "all programs & data" - that were remaining on the C:
drive ... I did not use any function in Outlook ...

Then it is plausible you did not backup what you need.
