Restore Failure

I have been having problems with the Restore function in Vista. I can
create
new Restore Points but when I come to use them the Computer tells me that it
will go to me restoration point, then there's the usual whirring sounds,
etc., followed by the computer switching off and restarting to be followed
by
the message that the computer cannot restore itself to my restoration point
and that no changes have been made. What am I doing wrong? How do I correct
the situation? Help, please.--
