Restore Dual boot

Hi

I'm having some MAJOR problems with a pc! I installed Windows 98 en
Windows XP with dual boot, which worked perfectly as it should.

There was only one problem left after some minor fault...There is an
60GB Maxtor 6Y060l0 Harddisk (Primairy Slave and nothing is on it,
Both Windows are on the other 200GB WD disk!) inside which was only
showing 32GB in the OS. I formatted it as an NTFS disk! I checked
the drive's jumper settings (for 32GB clip ;) ), but they were
alright. After that i tried formatting it with Maxblast 4 for
Windows, but this also only showed 32GB. So i tried the DOS version
for a floppy and boot it. This saw the 60GB complete, so i formatted
it as a NTFS disc, since it is only used in Windows XP.

Maxblast installed (automatically) DDO (Dynamic Drive Olverlay, if
i'm not mistaking) so the 60GB could be used. Afther the format in
installation of this, the computer stopped booting!!! Right after
the IRQ addresses and 'boot from CD:'. In guess this problem is
caused by the dual boot system...when you have to select the Windows
which you would like to boot.

Now I'm wondering what i could do to get it back without sacificing
ANY data on the other drive. I think it's just the boot sector which
is wrong, but I don't know how a dual boot sector would look like. I
have the Windows XP with SP2 to use, maybe the recovery console? I
don't know what to enter there :s.

And then the last quetion, which is less important. How can i get
Windwos XP to show the full 60GB?

I hope someone can help me with this!! I would prefer mailing over
newsgroups, but if this is not an option the newsgroups will be fine
too!

THANKS!!!!

Does you Bios recognize the 200 GB drive?

Move everything to the 60 GB drive and start over with the 200 GB drive.
If the Bios is not recognizing the 200 GB drive, install an IDE expansion
card and attach the 200 GB drive.

The 200GB is not the problem, the 60GB is causing the trouble. Both
drives are recognized in DOS for their actual size.
I want to to change the master boot record so it will boot normally.
I would also be happy if i can get Windows XP started, maybe i can
try and fix the problem from there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but my impression of your system
is as follows:
- You have a 200 GByte disk that has a 32 GByte partition.
- This partition has WinXP and Win98 on it.
- WinXP and Win98 reside on the same partition. It is
a FAT32 partition.
- You're using a Dynamic Drive Overlay on this disk.
- Your second disk is empty.
- The system will no longer boot.

Your first task should be to check if Windows is still
present on your 200 GByte disk. Boot the machine with
a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, then report
what you see on the disk.
- Is there a folder c:\Windows?
- Are there the hidden files c:\ntldr and c:\ntdetect.com?
- What is the contents of the hidden file c:\boot.ini?

hehe, no, i probably said it wrong...what i meant to say:

I have a 60GB disk which only 'shows' 32GB. The 200GB disk is fine,
works smoothly. Windows is on the 200GB disk. DDO is on the 60GB
disk, it got there thanks to Maxblast 4. That 60GB disk is empty.
And correct, my system won't boot ;)

But you can leave it with this, i decided to reinstall everything
after i connected the 200gb disk to my own pc to safe data. Now i'm
installing XP on the 60GB, let hope that works.

Thanks!!
