Restore and monitor problem

After playing a game I downloaded and returning to windows, the colors on
the monitor would be messed up. I tried all the monitor settings, etc. If
I went back to an earlier restore point the monitor would return to normal.
Did this about 3 times. Recently while cleaning up my hard drive I ran
across this game file, could not remember what it was so I ran it. Same
problem. Went to restore and none of the restore points would work. had to
reload restore thereby losing all previous points. Have tried 3 monitors,
updating driver, different monitor settings but nothing will bring the
monitor back to normal. I have dealer installed xp home, wife ordered 11/2
yr ago from tv show. Tried to contact Lan-Plus whith no luck. Will I have
to buy another version of xp which I can hardly afford or is there something
I can do with the software. The graphics chip is Sis735 I think.

Thanks for any info

When you say you tried all monitor settings, do you mean you were trying to adjust the settings with the buttons on the monitor? If so, probably you just need to adjust the Windows Display settings. Minimize all Windows, right click on the Desktop and select Properties from the menu that pops up. Click on the Settings tab. At the bottom there will be a slider bar that controls the screen resolution. It has probably been changed to use a low resolution -- move it one position to the right and click Apply. You might get some additional prompts, depending on what your defaults settings are. When you get the size to look the way you want it, also look at the "Color quality" setting. You probably want to change that to Highest (32 bit), or Medium (16 bit), depending on what looks best to you.
