restarting windows xp

Thanks Will for your last reply on scandisk it worked
beautifully and now I know where to find it. My next
problem.....
Whenever I do a restart my computer stays on but my screen
stays black. It never boots correctly. Only if I do a
complete shutdown. It used to work.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
 
1) What system/computer/OS/version are you using? Can't
do anything unless you have that info. Should have all
available service packs for your operating system
installed first.
 
xp- and yes everything is installed. I just went into
microsoft to update to make sure I was recent. Thanks
