restart Window when playing a movie?

My Computer freeze when I try to watch a "mpeg4" movie using WMP....
I mean... freeze, the keyboard, mouse, everything freeze
Can anyone please tell me what to do please...

window 2000 and have updated my window so, is probably most up to date....

find out exactly what video codec its using (get an app called gspot) and
ensure you have that codec installed...

ok.. thx for the gspot.. but it still didn't solve my problem....

The same file I render after I have restarted my PC is perfectly fine, but if I render it for about 2 times.. the PC freeze
complete, and I just have to restart my PC.

could it be that I have multiple of code trying to decode the same file and it leads to a crash? if so, what can I do? cause I don't
know what I can uninstall to have the problem fix...
