Restart doesn't work properly

Hello:

I'm running Windows XP Pro.

I don't know what happened, but I cannot restart my PC anymore. When I click
Restart button, the computer just shuts down. The same happens if I restart
my PC after the installation of a new program - in other words, my PC never
restarts, it shuts down instead.

Not a big problem, but nuisance. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Hello Peter,

Be sure to check your hardware; this sounds like a
hardware problem. I've experienced it myself, because I
didn't have one of my RAM slots closed properly. Be sure
to check everything inside, and if you're not able to do
it, please have a professional do it for you.

I didn't make any changed to my hardware for a long time, and
everything worked OK before. I'll look at the article that Will
