Hello.
I am having a problem with my resolution. When I set the rez to what I want
it to be at its no problem, then after five minutes it will go back to 640 x
480.
It does not matter how many times I set the rez i want it will still revert
back to the above size. Its not because I let it revert back to this size by
not clicking the "ok" tab because I am doing this and that counter is only
like 10 seconds or so...this is happerning after five minutes.
It started doing this before I installed the drivers for the monitor and the
gfx card and is still doing after.
Is there a setting in windows that is making it do this that I have
overlooked?

Thxs in advanced for taking the time to read this and helping with any advice.

System : Windows XP Pro SP2
Motherboard : ABIT AV8-3rd EYE
Processor : Athlon 64 3500+ Venice
RAM : 2G ddr PC3200
HD : Maxtor Diamond Plus 80G
Monitor : Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 230sb
Gfx card : Radeon Connect 9800 Pro 128

Are you in a domain? It could be that a group policy is being applied.

Hello Mike

There's a setting in Display Properties > Settings > Advanced under
Compatibility:

"Restart the computer before applying the new display settings"

Have you tried that? I'm just wondering if your new settings aren't
getting "registered", somehow. . .

Also, when the settings change back, are you using a particular program,
or does it happen whatever you are doing?

Ok guys and girls thxs very much for trying to help me......I re installed
windows and downloaded drivers for my gfx card straight from windows instead
of installing the one I got with the card and also have not installed the
GURU drivers for the 3rd eye on the motherboard (looked a bit dodgy being
able to over clock with the touch of a button) I will install this when i
know the system is stable and report back....Nightowl, I have tried setting
the rez onto higher settings now and with the restart disabled it still keeps
the rez how I want it, I can only think that it was the old Radeon driver or
the sequence I installed all the drivers.

Glad you got it working. How the ATI drivers are installed can make a
difference. Sometimes you have to uninstall the old drivers first and set
the video card to Standard VGA before installing newer drivers.
