Resolution problem

I have an Acer Aspire 9300, and am running Vista home Premium.

Ever since I connected my laptop to a projector for a presentation it has
been confused as to how large my screen is. At startup it would switch
between the correct resolution and another where everything was displayed
much larger. It would eventually realise it's mistake and switch back to the
correct resolution. Unfortunately, now it is stuck in the wrong resoution at
all times. There was no obvious reason for the problem changing from
intermittant to constant.

My laptop says it is scaling at 96 DPI, but what it defines on screen as an
inch is infact about 1.4 inches/3.5cm.

Apparently my drivers are up to date.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Tedium,

Right-click on the desktop, choose Personalize. At the upper left under
Tasks, is a link that reads: Adjust Font Size (DPI)

No, that doesn't do it. It is set to 96 dpi, which is the lowest it will go
(even in 'custom DPI'). To be honest, I may have incorrectly titled this
thread, maybe it's not resolution as such - it is more that the
driver/OS/whatever has forgotten that i have a 17", and is giving me the
image for a tiny little screen, which is then being stretched to fit. Hence
everything is a bit too large - icons,toolbars, text etc, and when I got to
custom DPI and it gives a graphical representation of an inch, the inch it
shows actually measures 1.4 inches.

Never mind, I got it fixed, my screen resolution had decided to set itself to
1024x768 instead of 1152 x 864, for no apparent reason. Thanks for trying
though.

The Acer site says it should be 1440 x 900 which should give you a better
image if its correct.
