Resolution Issues when using Design Templates

I'm currently trying to put together a PP slideshow and wanted to use a
decent template and also lots of charts that I wanted to import from excel.

The design template I chose is this one.

To get the charts from excel into PP i could have either copied and pasted
as jpegs or as linked workbooks. I chose linked workbooks as this gives the
chart a transparent look and so you can still see the design of the slide
through the chart and not just a big white box with a chart on it. All
seemed to be going well until i previewed the slideshow and all of the text
from excel became pixelated and looked horrid. I then did the exact same
process but used a blank template instead of a fancy design template and
this solved the pixelation problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem as I really wanted to use this
specific template and still have transarent charts.

Did you make the chart in a NEW sheet in excel? Seems to work better for me
to do that adjust font sizes and then copy/paste into ppt

Many thanks for quick reply John but i'm afraid it didnt help. I'm thinking
the problem is due to the complexity of the background, in that a solid
background can easily hide pixelation but a vivid background picks it out.
i'm trying to get around the problem by colouring all the cells in my chart
with a similar colour to the deisgn template so that I dont just have a big
white chart. Just need to know how to find out the specific RGB values used
in my template now.

Hi Nick,

the reason for the pixilated Excel charts is the animated title of the
slides in this template. Animation sometimes causes text to look pixilated.

Do you need or want this animation? If not, you can delete it in the slide
master. If you want to keep it, I would recommend at least to use no
animation on slides with charts. To delete the animation on a single slide
only, open the animation task pane, click on the little arrow right of
"Master: Title" and choose to copy effects to slide. Then you can delete the
Title animation for this slide.

I've now deleted all the animation effects from the design master and also
the custom animations I had inserted myself and the pixelation has now
disappeared. Given the choice between fancy click through animations and a
professional looking presentation I'd choose professionalism every time.
