Creating Chart Templates PowerPoint 2007

Hi

When creating a chart template in PowerPoint 2007 when I look in Excel (when
for instance if I have edited the data, or while creating my chart template)
the theme in Excel is Office default theme. When I look in my template in
PowerPoint the theme is my own.

Does anyone know if I manually when creating chart templates also have (when
I am in Excel) have to select the theme colors?

Or is Chart template the way that they have the colors when I once created
the chart template? I have also got a very odd thing in my chart template and
that is if I change the font color on my entire chart the color that displays
in my theme is blue, but the text that appears in my chart is yellow..

Anyone had a similar problem?

I've not had the blue and yellow problem. Chart templates are considered
direct, absolute formatting. They do not respond to themes, even if you
select theme colors for the chart template.

I think it's a bad design and that chart templates should respond to themes,
but I don't seem to have convinced the Excel charting team of that yet.
<sigh>

IIRC, the font schemes in a chart template will respond to a theme change,
though. Go figure.

You're welcome.

I realize now I should have mentioned that a theme (colors, fonts and
effects) can be used in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

You create themes in PowerPoint simply because it has the interface for
them. But you save them as a theme. (Office Button | Save As | Office Theme
(THMX). You'll be automatically taken to the proper folder to save the THMX
in. )

THMX files can be used in Word and Excel and PowerPoint. In Word and Excel,
go to the Page Layout tab and click the Theme button. Now you have the same
colors, fonts and effects from your theme available as you work in Word and
Excel also.
