Resetting PCI configuration data

I changed my current network adapter to another PCI slot. I had to go and
reconfigure the TCP/IP data because it still has information about the last
PCI slot that I was using for the same network card.

I had reset the configuration data from the BIOS, so is there a way to get
Windows XP to reset the configuration data so it doesn't associate my TCP/IP
data with an empty slot?

Thanks in Advance

Did you un-install the network adapter in Device Manager before moving
it to another slot? If not, the old information is still in Windows.
In that case:

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Un-install the network adapter.
3. Shut down the computer.
4. Move the adapter to the old slot.
5. Start the computer.
6. Open Device Manager.
7. Un-install the network adapter.
8. Shut down the computer.
9. Move the adapter to the new slot.
10. Start the computer and let Windows install it.

Or alternatively, you should be able to use the procedure here:

Device Manager Does Not Display Devices That Are Not
Connected to the Windows XP-Based Computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539

to force Device Manager to show the nonpresent devices.

The previous incarnation of the network card will be classed as a nonpresent
device.
You could then delete the nonpresent network adapters from device manager.
