Resetting keyboard shortcuts for applications

Hi There,

I recently installed Office 2004. I upgraded from Office XP. [[[ Yes, this
is an XP issue I am about to explain.. not an Office issue]]]
Whilst using office xp I had assigned keyboard shortcuts to WORD, EXCEL and
a few other apps I think.

I did this by creating a shortcut to the APP on my desktop and then on that
shortcut I would assign a KEY combo that would run that shortcut. I did it
this way because I found that when I simply applied a key shortcut to ANY
PROGRAM icon in the START menu it would not work. I would have to first
create a shortcut on my desktop (or anywhere else convenient)... then the
key combo assigned would work.

NOW...
When I installed OFFICE 2004 it removed ALL shortcuts to all OFFICE XP apps.
That was fine.
But I am now trying to assigning a KEYBOARD shortcut (the same one I used
before) to WORD2004, EXCEL2004 etc.
But I have run into a problem. XP thinks that the key combo I am using is
already assigned to something else and I can not apply it to these apps.

I was, for instance, using ALT-CTRL-SHIFT-W for Word and the
ALT-CTRL-SHIFT-E for excel.
I can not apply these to Word2004 and Excel2004 because XP still "thinks"
they are used on the old icons.

How do I reset these previous shortcuts so that I can reassign them?
Boy... I hope that all makes sense. So simple but so many words to explain
to someone else!!

Thanks

Jonathan

CORRECTION...
I meant to say I am now using OFFICE 2003 (not 2004).

Thanks,

Hi there,

I had a flash of inspiration and it proved correct.
I cleared out the Trash Can and that has sorted the problem.
I guess Office Install had dumped the deleted Shortcuts into there and they
were blocking me from reassigning the key shortcuts.

EVEN BETTER is that with the OFFICE 2003 shortcuts I can apply my keyboard
shortcut to the WORD and EXCEL shortcut in the START MENU as opposed to
having to make new shortcuts elsewhere first.
