I was installing xp and now I have nothing when I turn on
the computer. How do I get back to C:? I need to get back
to a point where I can swipe my hard drive.

Dandy, that can all be done from the XP CD, no need for ME/98.

boot from the xp cd, delete everything .. or use an Windows ME / 98 cd to
delete the partition, recreate and reformat
