I would suggest pen and paper. Or printing out a textfile and deleting
any traces on the HD.

I suggest Truecrypt. (I already post a related topic, please read
there). If you are interest only for a few pwds, write your pwds at a
txt file with notepad, create a 10KB virtual drive and store your text
file there.
OK, it isn't the simplest solution, if you 're interest only for a text
file. May be you can just zip it with pwd.
I strongly reccomend, that you choose an open source solution. (Source
is available. NO hidden back doors).

Best Wishes!
Elf Wizard. :)

Try SecureSafe Pro, it allows to store up to 20 passwords for free.

I tried Password Corral, and was disappointed. I need something that will
go to the URL and fill in the information. I hope SecureSafePro does that.

Is there anything in the freeware field that does both of these jobs?

Thanks, I'm downloading it right now.

Sigh. It's weaker than Password Corral.

I wish someone would write an equivalent to RoboForm. It remains the best.

PasswordSafe <http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/> will do both. You
need to tell it to go to the website (option to do that with keystroke,
menu, or just double-click on name) and then tell it to autotype
(keystroke or menu). Doing both in one command wouldn't work well
because sites are so diffferent.

Great little program.

It's an MSI mainboard utility, but you do not need to have an MSI
mainboard to use it.

So, are you looking for something like IE's auto password? Where it
recognises that you are at PayPal and fills in the username and
password fields right away for you? That's different than "password
keeping."

IE (yuck) does that, Netscape does that... but I always turn them off.
They are too easy for viruses to mine, too easy to trick, and anyone
with access to your computer can "go shopping."

A seperate password file with encryption and its own master password
gives you control over when you want to send passwords.

I agree with the idea of a separate file with encryption.

Here's my problem: I write book reviews, and one of the organizations I must
bill for my services has a website that works only with IE -- even when I'm
using Opera, or Seamonkey, I have to switch to IE to send the bill. I
really hate it.

So here's a thought -- is there a freeware browser that uses the IE engine,
that will allow me to bill the company, that saves passwords in the same
way, say, Seamonkey (Mozilla) and Opera do? One that is secure?

I hope you add something to the bill for having to switch to IE. If
they start having to pay for their intransigence perhaps they may
rethink their strategy.

In fact I have yet to find any site which will not work with Mozilla,
including Microsoft's own site.
